Kendall Katwalk

Located near Snoqualmie Pass, WA, this out and back along Section J of the PCT is a great way to experience one of the most scenic trails on the PCT. It features great mountain views. A great intro to trail and mountain running.

This out and back along Section J of the PCT is a great way to experience one of the most scenic trails on the PCT. It features great mountain views. A great intro to trail and mountain running.

Starts and ends at Snoqualmie Pass.

Distance: 12M
Elevation Gain: 2,400 ft.
Duration: 5-6h.

The trail climbs gently for 6 miles using the single track PCT section J trail up to Kendall Katwalk.

    • Half-Day run.
    • Recommended start: 07:00 AM from the PCT Section J trailhead.
    • This is an out-and-back trail and is considered easy as per trail running standards.
    • Option #2: Continue on the PCT for another 1 mile to Ridge Lake. Total of 14 miles and 2.600 ft of gain.
    • Option #3: Continue on the PCT for another 2.5 miles to incredible views and colors of Joe lakes and Alaska lakes + Huckleberry Mountain. Definitely worth it if you are in shape. Add another 600 ft of gain. Total is 17 miles and 3,000 ft of gain.

What is Included

    • GPX file of the route. This is the file you upload to your GPS watch or smartphone using an app such as GAIA GPS.
    • Training on how to use GAIA GPS.
    • Briefing about the route that the trail follows as well as the landmarks and expectations. Duration to complete the route will also be discussed as well as nutrition and hydration.
    • invitation to join online pre-briefings and a Q&A session.
    • Gear and training recommendations. What to bring, how to use specific gear…
    • Opportunity to signup for a specific 12-week training plan.
    • Option to join a Motivation Running Club run on that route at specific dates. Email us for details: stephane@motivationrunning.com.

What is not included

    • Lodging. Camping at the White River Campground could be a good option to avoid waking up very early.
    • Transportation to and from trailheads unless specified.
    • Food and hydration during the run, and post-run.
    • Gear required for the run.
    • Personal safety kit.
